Simple Catfish Rigs For A Fisherman To Use

If you are out there searching for the right kind of catfish rigs, then let me give you a few pointers on the important things to look for during your quest. I won’t bore you with all the various kinds of catfish rigs out there, but instead just give you some philosophy on the way you want to fish, and how to think about rigging up for that kind of fishing. We will be looking at two basic styles of catfishing, going shallow and going deep. Furthermore, the recommendations I am making for these catfish rigs are for folks using perch or shad baits, and seeking to land the bigger catfish. If you want to fish for smaller catfish, you can use smaller weights and hooks, etc.

On your shallow catfish rigs, get some good catfish bobbers, with some bobber stops, and place the bobber stop just a little bit above the depth that you want to fish. For example, if you want to fish a depth of five feet, place the bobber stop at about five and a half feet. After that, slide your bobber onto the line, and use a Palomar or other knot to tie on an eight ought or nine ought hook, and get to fishing.

For deep catfish rigs, start by tie a good sized weight to the end of the line. Then come up about one to two feet, and tie a dropper loop in the line, then tie on a twelve inch leader line with an 8/0-9/0 hook. Using this method is an easy and viable way to reduce snags, and to keep your bait off the bottom.

Ok, so you have the short version of preparing you catfish rigs for some good fishing. Look for more great fishing tips from me in the near future. Until next time, go out and have some fun pulling in those catfish with these rigs.

Neat Bass Fishing Tips To Make You Triumphant

The bass fishing tips I am about to show are going to knock your socks off, so hold on to your seat. These tips are going to be focused on the instinctive behavior of this fish. You see, there are many things that you need to know about the big mouth bass before you can really be a serious angler.

So first all, the bass really likes to be under cover. They love shade, and they’ll find any kind of rock, bulrush or other structure that will provide them shelter from the sun. Also, they know that at the break of these cover areas are great places to ambush bait fish. So a lot of the time you’ll catch bass just hanging out under some moss or a rock hoping for a quick, effortless lunch.

Second, bass like the warm water temperatures. They don’t go for really hot temperatures, but water between fifty eight and eighty degrees will give you the optimum odds for catching these elusive fish. Once you get beyond this temperature range, these fish aren’t going to respond very well.

Also, these fish have a myriad of food on their menus. Sort of like the trash cans of the lake, they’ll eat most anything. The thing that must be true regardless of what your throw at them, it must appear to be alive, because they don’t like dead stuff. Just remember that when you are out there fishing for them, stick to live bait and artificial lures with good action.

Last, you will often find bass one at a time. What I mean by that is that this fish doesn’t school much. Only on rare occasions will you find schools of them, so if you catch one, don’t sit in that spot forever, make a few casts there again, then move on to another fishing spot.

Make sure to utilize these great fishing tips and let me know how it goes for you.

Catfish Rig Basic Depiction

Before you take your first trip out fishing for catfish, you are going to want to know what kind of catfish rigs to use. Depending on what type of catfish fishing you are going to be doing will have influence on which catfish rig you use, and there many catfish rigs available to choose from. The 2 kinds of catfishing that I am going to be describing here are shallow fishing and deep fishing.

For the deep fisherman, you will want to tie on a large weight to the end of the line, and thenyou’re your hook on the line about a foot or two above the weight. This setup will help you to have your bait near the fish, and will keep your hook from getting caught on the bottom as frequently.

When you want your catfish rig to be shallow, use a bobber, and put a bobber stop just above where you want the depth of the hook to be. For example, if you wish to fish around four feet deep or so, then place your bobber stop just above the four foot mark, and then put on your bobber right below the bobber stop. If you are using a lightweight bait, consider putting on a couple of split shots below the bobber, just to keep the bait down.

Now we need to talk about knots. For tying loops in the line to attach hooks not directly on the end of the line, use a dropper loop to attach them. When you are attaching the hooks, use a Palomar knot. These are the best two knots I know of when setting up your catfish rigs. You can do a quick google search to find out exactly how to tie these two knots.

So that’s all for today. So don’t delay, get out there on the water, and use these great fishing tips to your advantage.
